Amp Bullet

I have a Fender squire… It sounds bad, but its cheap. Which gutiar should be my next step?
It sounds like a cheap guitar. Plain and simple. I have a 15 watt amp (bullet 150). I want a Gibson/Epiphone Les Paul but I dont know where to find one that wouldnt cost 1000$. In the long run I could get a 1000$ gutiar but if I could have a 600$ that sounds just as good and looks like a les paul and feels like one too, that would be awesome. Also, would it sound crappy with my bullet 150 amp? or is the guitar the larger factor?
the problem is a combination of the guitar and the amp.
please dont assume the squire is a fair representation of the strat because it is not. fender strats are awsome most recorded guitar in rock music to date !
but they good ones start around 400 and go up (mexican made). the amp also is junk.15 wat? you can buy a cheap les paul copy and have the same problem. but if you get the epihpone or esp version, then it gets better right?
there are some good instruments and amps out there that dont cost a fortune.ive ben playing for 40 years and i can get whatever guitar i want, i chose the fender telecaster mexican made. for the price AND the quality. i switched the pick ups over to lindy fralin blues specials and im completely satisfied with my guitar. you can get a GOOD amp for around 300 dollars, TUBE! you will do better to get a small tube amp than a huge solid state, tube is just gonna sound better everytime!
but.you can get a fairly good sound from a solid state at least 50 watt. anything less in solid state isnt gonna perform real good.but whether you get fender, gibson, ibanez, or what ever, they all ahev good stuf and they all have cheap imitations (squire) just remember, music stuff is like any other commodity, you get what you pay for. spend cheap get cheap. more better stuff is more money
