Position Rotary
Why do fan switches work off/hi/lo instead of off/lo/hi?
Most 3-position rotary fan switches I know go from the off position straight to high, and then to low as the last position. This has always bugged me; I think it should start off slow from off and then move into high. Is there a specific reason for this? Is it just because most people want to use them in high mode so that’s the most convenient position?
Re: Drawing current: I thought of that, but some fans have push buttons that can bypass the high setting, and you can turn that knob I should think fast than the motor could come up to speed. Other motors don’t seem to have this problem. Still, I could be wrong …
